Big Foot Bike Skills!!

Hi welcome back bloggers and today I'm going to talk about Bigfoot Bike Safety Skills. On the 27th of November we did Bigfoot Bike Safety Skills theory. Then on the 28th of November we did Bigfoot Bike Safety Skills practical. On the 27th we learnt about what the reflectors did to our bike. Reflectors reflect light so cars and see us and the night. We also learnt something on the bike called quick release to take the tires off the bike. On the 28th we learnt how to ride a bike and to always put 2 or 1 fingers on both brakes. This helps us to stop the bike quicker if there is an accident. We also learnt how to fit our own helmets and how to check our bike to see if it is safe to ride. First we had to see if the wheels have enough air in them. Then we had to check if the brakes work well. Then we had to see if the wheels won't come off, if they do put them back on and do up the quick release. We did a game where you have to put a bean bag on your helmet and zig zag between cones and when you get to the end you have to race back without it falling off. First we did a practice round then we did a race. We also did another game where we only had a specific rectangle where you could ride your bike around in any direction. If you touch the ground or let go of your brakes then you are out. This was really really fun I hope we do Bigfoot bike skills again. Here are some pictures of us riding around and learning and having fun.

Athletics day

Greetings bloggers. On the 19 of November we had a School Athletics Day. We had a variety of activity's including: High Jump, Long Jump and sprints. We also did a 200m run and a 400m run. At the end of the day we house relays. Pukeko won 3, tui won 2 and kea won once. Everyone did very well, but... guess what!? The teachers still haven't told us which house won with the most house points and who won the relays. Maybe the teachers will tell us that next week. Here are some pictures taken on the day. Create tumble!

Hi welcome back bloggers, this week we have been doing something called a create and share tumble. We did a rotation of nine activities, here are the names of them: Paper planes, A Lego scene, Pavement art, Plasticine character, Making butter, cutting patterns, Play dough insect, marshmallow maths and Origami frog. Only 8 out of 76 children finished and I am one of those 8. My favourite one was marshmallow maths because you get to eat the marshmallows after. If you want to do marshmallow maths here is how to do it: Step 1 grab a friend or two, Step 2 get 20 marshmallows and 25 toothpicks Step 3 build the biggest structure possible without it falling over. Step 4 share the marsh marshmallows equally, Step 5 eat the marshmallows and clean the toothpicks so they can be reused for something else. Also if you want to make an origami frog here are the instructions on this ink.
